Part II has the Roman history as its subject. It opens with a description of the topography of Rome on a historical background. This is followed by a prose version of Vergil's Aeneid with the important passages in the original, and Livy's Book I dealing with the seven kings of Rome, supplemented with extracts from Ovid(on Romulus and Remus, the Sabine Women, Lucretia etc.). Livy's prose has been suitably adapted, but less and less as it progresses, thus preparing the student for the reading of original texts by Livy, Aulus Gellius, Cornelius Nepos, Sallust, Cicero and Horace in the remaining chapters. The selections have been made so as to cover the history of Rome until the end of the republic. For periods not treated by these writers the compendium of Roman history by Eutropius and the epitome of the lost books by Livy have been used. As in Part I each chapter is followed by three pensa and a list of new words.

Patut dicatat memang, sejak sekitar tahun 1980-an khususnya HKBP, prestasinya dalam penginjilan tidak lagi bersinar. Daya kreasi dalam metode serta sistem pelayanan yang monoton ketinggalan dibandingkan dengan sistem yang dipergunakan denominasi lainnya. e. Tantangan masa dan zaman dalam globalisasi yang tidak dijawab secara tepat dan benar. f. Layanan para pendeta dan pimpinan gereja ada yang kurang berkenan bagi warga sendiri. g. Warga mempunyai pilihan secara bebas tentang gereja dan kebaktian di mana mereka ikut berbaur dan menyatu. Momentum peringatan 150 tahun HKBP tahun 2011, kiranya menjadi salah satu momen khusus bagi HKBP secara menyeluruh, pengurus dan warganya, untuk kembali merenung serta mengkaji berbagai hal yang dinikmati masa lalu dan dipergumulkan selama ini. Di dalam kebudayaan Batak pada umumnya ada filosofi yang kuat untuk saling membantu sesama mereka. Salah satu filosofi itu ialah saling membantu, saling gotong royong. Ungkapan yang kuat milik orang Batak, terutama Toba ialah si sada anak, si sada boru. Si sada lungun si sada las ni roha. Artinya kepemilikan kolektif.
