Supernormal Growth

'China''s Economy 1979–2049'

' Supernormal Growth confirms the supernormal achievements of China by providing founding statistics that China, during the past 35 years, experienced a synchronous high-speed growth of investment, consumption, labor productivity with low volatility. First of its kind, Jeffrey Shi analyzes the unique structure and operating mechanism of China''s existing market economy from a theoretic perspective, and attributes China''s supernormal growth to supernormal investment aroused by China''s three dimensional (3-D) market system which consists of competitive enterprises, competitive local governments and central government and to supernormal purchasing power created by American''s finance-driving strategy. In examining multiple challenges of China one by one, the Shi proposes a whole conception of national strategic asset investment system which does not interfere with the operation of normal market, but provides sustainable extra force to extend China''s supernormal growth, and also an innovative idea of relieving polarization of the poor and the rich through a "1.5th income distribution" system, so as to provide a panoramic view of China''s supernormal growth strategy in the next 30 years. Shi is not only a respected scholar, but also a successful businessman, giving Supernormal Growth a more valuable reference in answering many questions about China''s development no matter in the past or future. E-Commerce Strategy

E-Commerce Strategy builds awareness and sharpens readers' understanding of the key issues about e-commerce strategies. To link theory of e-commerce strategy with practice in the real world, it brings together theoretical perspectives based on academic research, integrated use of technologies and large amount of cases, especially those of China. With regard to the innovative technical standards and frameworks, it proposes strategic analysis from a technical point of view. The book is intended for postgraduate students in e-commerce and computer science as well as government officials, entrepreneurs and managers. Prof. Zheng Qin is the Director of Software Engineering and Management Research Institute, Tsinghua University, China; Dr. Shundong Li is a Professor at the School of Computer Science, Shaanxi Normal University, China; Dr. Yang Chang and Dr. Fengxiang Li are both Research Assistants at the School of Software, Tsinghua University, China.

In the first chapter, we propose a fast method for fitting planar Bspline curves to unorganized data points. In traditional methods, optimization of control points and foot points are performed in two alternating timeconsuming steps in every iteration: 1) control points are updated by setting up and solving a linear system of equations; and 2) foot points are computed by projecting each data point onto a B-spline curve. Our method uses the LBFGS optimization method to optimize control points and foot points simultaneously and therefore it does not need to solve a linear system of equations or performing foot point projection in every iteration. As a result, the proposed method is much faster than existing methods. In the second chapter, we propose a new shape description method using a radial basis function built on the medial axis of the shape. By formulating our approach as a constrained L DEGREES1-minimization problem, our method produces sparse reconstruction result which uses much fewer basis functions than previous approaches. Besides the sparse representation capacity, our method also has advantages in two aspects: 1) Our method does not rely on normal information of input points. 2) Our method has stronger capacity in representing multi-scale shapes compared with existing methods. All these characteristics will be illustrated in the corresponding chapters and sections. Subjects: Computer graphics Geometry - Data processing

Multi-disciplinary Trends in Artificial Intelligence

9th International Workshop, MIWAI 2015, Fuzhou, China, November 13-15, 2015, Proceedings

This book constitutes the refereed conference proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Multi-disciplinary Trends in Artificial Intelligence, MIWAI 2015, held in Fuzhou, China, in November 2015. The 30 revised full papers presented together with 12 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 83 submissions. The papers feature a wide range of topics covering knowledge representation, reasoning, and management; multi-agent systems; data mining and machine learning; computer vision; robotics; AI in bioinformatics; AI in security and networks; and other AI applications.

MIWAI has evolved from an annual series of international workshops, which was
initiated in 2007 by Mahasarakham University in Thailand as the Mahasarakham
International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence. In 2011, it was renamed as the
Multi-disciplinary International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence, and was for the
first time held outside Thailand, in Hyderabad, India. This year, the 9th workshop
in this series, MIWAI 2015, took place in Fuzhou, China during November 13–15,

Complex Differential Geometry

The theory of complex manifolds overlaps with several branches of mathematics, including differential geometry, algebraic geometry, several complex variables, global analysis, topology, algebraic number theory, and mathematical physics. Complex manifolds provide a rich class of geometric objects, for example the (common) zero locus of any generic set of complex polynomials is always a complex manifold. Yet complex manifolds behave differently than generic smooth manifolds; they are more coherent and fragile. The rich yet restrictive character of complex manifolds makes them a special and interesting object of study.
