Chapter Four analyzes how the figure of white femininity and the image of the 'dark rapist' evoke colonial memory and justify neo-imperial violence in media narratives of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. I focus on representations of three white female soldiers, including Jessica Lynch and Lynndie England, to demonstrate how the media rouse deeply established fears of the racial other, expertly manipulating the intersectionalities of race, gender, sexuality and class whilst simultaneously reproducing these ambivalent categories as discrete and stable.

The ever-increasing demand for low-cost portable devices has motivated the research on high frequency CMOS communication integrated circuits. We designed and implemented a transmitter chain that will be part of a single-chip 24-GHz CMOS radio for sensor network applications. The radio includes a RF transceiver, an on-chip antenna, a baseband processor, a sensor, and eventually a battery. The integration of an antenna on the same chip greatly simplifies the package, lowers the device cost to less than $1, and makes the radio easy to use.
A fully integrated complementary LC voltage control oscillator (VCO), designed with a tunable buffer, operates from 4.6 GHz to 5.9 GHz. The measurement results demonstrate that the integrated VCO has a very low phase noise of --117 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The fully integrated VCO achieves a very high figure of merit (FOM) of 183.5 using standard CMOS process while consuming 4 mA DC current.
This thesis outlines the fabrication of two atom chips for the study of interactions between 87Rb Rydberg atoms and a Au surface. Atom chips yield tightly confined, cold samples of an atomic species by generating magnetic fields with high gradients using microfabricated current-carrying wires. These ground state atoms may in turn be excited to Rydberg states. The trapping wires of Chip 1 are fabricated using thermally evaporated Cr/Au and patterned using lift-off photolithography. Chip 2 uses a Ti/Pd/Au tri-layer, instead of Cr/Au, to minimize interdiffusion. The chip has a thermally evaporated Au surface layer for Rydberg atom-surface interactions, which is separated from the underlying trapping wires by a planarizing polyimide dielectric. The polyimide was patterned using reactive ion etching. Special attention was paid to the edge roughness and electrical properties of the trapping wires, the planarization of the polyimide, and the grain structure of the Au surface.

This study humanistic study of the philosophy and practice of solidarity of religions towards mutual co-existence employs historical methodology through documentary analysis. It is conducted from the perspective of a historical figure, his literature, and personal interviews. Additionally, it is complemented by philosophical inquiry that involves critical reflection which for right decision-making and action.
Role of Teachers In interreligious pedagogical practice teachers have great responsibility in responding to the need of students in a religious education class.

My work is grounded in the methodology of practical and cultural theology and combines insights from cognitive-developmental theory and transformative learning theory with constructive educational design. I propose strategies for adult religious education based on a Shared Christian Praxis approach, and augmented by several elements designed to be particularly responsive to the postmodern context. I investigate the effectiveness of these proposals from the standpoint of a field study of practices of Christian hospitality in a distinctively postmodern setting: a theologically progressive Episcopal congregation in a culturally diverse West Coast city.

This dissertation examines the factors affecting Colombian S&T performance, and particularly the ways international research collaboration affects local scientific and technological capabilities. S&T capabilities are measured by the ability of research teams to produce bibliographic outputs, and to contribute to local knowledge.
