TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT

In particular, no matter which definition is used, quality is always ultimately
defined by the customer (i.e. user-based). Let's look at these categories and see
how they apply to knowledge work. 2.11 Transcendent Quality Approach
Transcendent quality measures are just means for capturing subjective opinions.
The most common tool used is the rating scale. For example, cake mixes are
tested by submitting their products to a panel which rates the taste of the cake on

Multi-objective Swarm Intelligence

Theoretical Advances and Applications

The aim of this book is to understand the state-of-the-art theoretical and practical advances of swarm intelligence. It comprises seven contemporary relevant chapters. In chapter 1, a review of Bacteria Foraging Optimization (BFO) techniques for both single and multiple criterions problem is presented. A survey on swarm intelligence for multiple and many objectives optimization is presented in chapter 2 along with a topical study on EEG signal analysis. Without compromising the extensive simulation study, a comparative study of variants of MOPSO is provided in chapter 3. Intractable problems like subset and job scheduling problems are discussed in chapters 4 and 7 by different hybrid swarm intelligence techniques. An attempt to study image enhancement by ant colony optimization is made in chapter 5. Finally, chapter 7 covers the aspect of uncertainty in data by hybrid PSO.

The purpose of this volume entitled “Multi-objective Swarm Intelligence:
Theoretical Advances and Applications” is to attract a wide range of researchers
and readers from all fields of science and engineering performing
interdisciplinary research based on swarm intelligence methodologies to
optimize intractable problems, which are either in the form of single or multi-
objective optimization. Multi-objective optimization deals with the simultaneous
optimization of two or more objectives ...

Subramanyam Bharati

The Art Of Public Speaking

Have you ever been faced with the daunting task of addressing a packed auditorium, or making a successful presentation? Have you ever wondered how accomplished speakers do it with such ease? The answer lies in effective training! This is an indispensable guide for all those who wish to make a smooth transition from the novice to the expert. This crisp and concise book enlightens you on the various aspects of public speaking, from selecting the topic for your speech to delivering the speech on stage. Read it today and watch your stage fright disappear.

Many politicians like to speak from scripts. To speak effectively from a script
requires a great deal of skill. This often becomes a barrier between you and the
listeners, as eye contact is lost. Your eyes are down, focused on your script, and

STATISTICAL INFERENCE : THEORY OF ESTIMATION

This book is sequel to a book Statistical Inference: Testing of Hypotheses (published by PHI Learning). Intended for the postgraduate students of statistics, it introduces the problem of estimation in the light of foundations laid down by Sir R.A. Fisher (1922) and follows both classical and Bayesian approaches to solve these problems. The book starts with discussing the growing levels of data summarization to reach maximal summarization and connects it with sufficient and minimal sufficient statistics. The book gives a complete account of theorems and results on uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimators (UMVUE)—including famous Rao and Blackwell theorem to suggest an improved estimator based on a sufficient statistic and Lehmann-Scheffe theorem to give an UMVUE. It discusses Cramer-Rao and Bhattacharyya variance lower bounds for regular models, by introducing Fishers information and Chapman, Robbins and Kiefer variance lower bounds for Pitman models. Besides, the book introduces different methods of estimation including famous method of maximum likelihood and discusses large sample properties such as consistency, consistent asymptotic normality (CAN) and best asymptotic normality (BAN) of different estimators. Separate chapters are devoted for finding Pitman estimator, among equivariant estimators, for location and scale models, by exploiting symmetry structure, present in the model, and Bayes, Empirical Bayes, Hierarchical Bayes estimators in different statistical models. Systematic exposition of the theory and results in different statistical situations and models, is one of the several attractions of the presentation. Each chapter is concluded with several solved examples, in a number of statistical models, augmented with exposition of theorems and results. KEY FEATURES • Provides clarifications for a number of steps in the proof of theorems and related results., • Includes numerous solved examples to improve analytical insight on the subject by illustrating the application of theorems and results. • Incorporates Chapter-end exercises to review student’s comprehension of the subject. • Discusses detailed theory on data summarization, unbiased estimation with large sample properties, Bayes and Minimax estimation, separately, in different chapters.

This book is sequel to a book Statistical Inference: Testing of Hypotheses (published by PHI Learning).

Apache Spark Implementation on IBM z/OS

The term big data refers to extremely large sets of data that are analyzed to reveal insights, such as patterns, trends, and associations. The algorithms that analyze this data to provide these insights must extract value from a wide range of data sources, including business data and live, streaming, social media data. However, the real value of these insights comes from their timeliness. Rapid delivery of insights enables anyone (not only data scientists) to make effective decisions, applying deep intelligence to every enterprise application. Apache Spark is an integrated analytics framework and runtime to accelerate and simplify algorithm development, depoyment, and realization of business insight from analytics. Apache Spark on IBM® z/OS® puts the open source engine, augmented with unique differentiated features, built specifically for data science, where big data resides. This IBM Redbooks® publication describes the installation and configuration of IBM z/OS Platform for Apache Spark for field teams and clients. Additionally, it includes examples of business analytics scenarios.
