An Analysis of the Problems of Teaching Elementary Science in the Philippine Public Schools

Lammers (ll6:56) found that most of the teachers she interviewed were free to
utilize science materials as they chose and one-half of them "relied solely on
correlative and incidental learning for instruction in science." She further stated

An Analysis of Women's Development and Gender Equity at Two Universities in South China

The contributions of this research to Chinese women/gender studies and education are multi-fold. Theoretically, a synthesized theory on the Socialist View of Gender Equity has been proposed, which connects Chinese socialism with global feminism. The alternative theory on the Developmental Model of Gender Sensitivity for better gender understanding and communication as well as the gender mainstreaming model for higher education system are breakthroughs in gender and education. As for curriculum innovation and discipline development, the suggestion for integrating gender perspective into the mainstream moral citizenship education can be an effective way to develop interdisciplinary women/gender studies offering a lens of social equity in general education for Chinese college students.

An Analysis of Oral Performance by Japanese Learners of English

The second goal, the analysis of task influence, involves an investigation of the interaction between proficiency level and task complexity, i.e., how learners of different proficiencies respond differentially to pedagogic tasks depending on the cognitive demands of the tasks. For this purpose, oral performances elicited by a (dynamic) narrative and a (static) picture description task are compared.

An Analysis of the Mutual Awareness Between Public Horticulture and the National FFA Organization

Youth education in public gardens is becoming an important option to increase community outreach and educational opportunities, and to develop a future audience for public horticulture. It is often perceived that this education is primarily focused at the elementary level but some secondary horticulture education exists as well. FFA is a national leadership organization for agricultural education students and is comprised of approximately 500,000 members. The FFA has remained relevant and strong among educational standards that continue to evolve in a dynamic industry. This research explored the degree of mutual awareness of public horticulture and the National FFA Organization, and the possible benefits of collaboration.

expose students to a broader range of career opportunities within public
horticulture.

An Analysis of Developmentally Appropriate and Culturally Reponsive Practices and the Learning Trajectories of Kindergarten, First-grade, and Third-grade Children from ECLS-K

Teachers' Beliefs and Practices as Mediators

The results of a two-level HLM analysis of achievement in reading and mathematics at first grade and third grade showed that there were statistically significant variations between classes and in the growth rate between the grades. The effects of the DACRP itself showed no statistically significant effects on young students' learning trajectories. However, when examining the interaction effects with predictors, mediating effects were shown. The study's results suggest that future research should be done to develop effective instruments to examine the effect of DACRP on students' learning; these could include improved research designs and advanced analytic methods.

In other words, half of the items for the cluster, "materials and environmental
adequacy" in kindergarten teachers' DACRP were distributed non- normally.

An Analysis of Faculty Perspectives on the Theory and Practice of Academic Freedom

This result of this study was surprising in that it appeared to contradict the literature on academic freedom. The findings suggested that there was no significant difference between faculty perspectives about academic freedom theory and practice in the university classroom.

Teaching "Europe" in Turkey: An Analysis of Secondary History Textbooks, 1956--2005

School history textbooks play an important role in teaching students about their national identity. Historical narratives presented in the textbooks incorporate conceptions of who people are and how they are linked to particular locations. However, these narratives are never static. They are constantly changing to take into account shifting interpretations of how the "nation" is affected by politics, cultural, social changes, economic circumstances and the nation's relationships to the world at large. This thesis explores these changes in the portrayal of "Europe" in history textbooks of 1956-58, 1975-78, 1996 and 2005 as a way of demonstrating the changing conceptions of Turkey's official self-understandings as represented in these textbooks.

What this might mean is well illustrated in the work of the Educational Materials
Project of the Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in South-east Europe (
CDRSEE) in their workbook, The Ottoman Empire: The solution [to the problem of
