Software Test Attacks to Break Mobile and Embedded Devices

Address Errors before Users Find Them Using a mix-and-match approach, Software Test Attacks to Break Mobile and Embedded Devices presents an attack basis for testing mobile and embedded systems. Designed for testers working in the ever-expanding world of "smart" devices driven by software, the book focuses on attack-based testing that can be used by individuals and teams. The numerous test attacks show you when a software product does not work (i.e., has bugs) and provide you with information about the software product under test. The book guides you step by step starting with the basics. It explains patterns and techniques ranging from simple mind mapping to sophisticated test labs. For traditional testers moving into the mobile and embedded area, the book bridges the gap between IT and mobile/embedded system testing. It illustrates how to apply both traditional and new approaches. For those working with mobile/embedded systems without an extensive background in testing, the book brings together testing ideas, techniques, and solutions that are immediately applicable to testing smart and mobile devices.

Much of traditional testing wisdom can be applied to testing in this new and
growing space, but traditional wisdom is not enough. Special considerations and
concerns for testing in embedded systems are known to some specialists but too

Fundamentals of Solar Astronomy

There are several textbooks available on solar astronomy which deal with advanced astrophysical aspects of solar physics, and books which provide very elementary knowledge about the Sun. This book will help to bridge the gap. It aims to stimulate interest in solar astronomy, presenting at one place the basic methods and techniques used in the field, together with the latest findings and the excitement in solar physics. As solar astronomy is becoming very popular among amateur astronomers and laymen, the book provides the practical knowledge to build simple solar telescopes and other equipment for making solar observations. Amateur astronomers have made important contributions to solar astronomy, and this book will help to guide them in their endeavours. The book can also serve as a text for undergraduate and graduate students starting out on solar physics. Using it, graduate students can easily embark on specific topics of research in solar astronomy.

Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations

With Special Functions, Fourier Series, and Boundary Value Problems

In this undergraduate/graduate textbook, the authors introduce ODEs and PDEs through 50 class-tested lectures. Mathematical concepts are explained with clarity and rigor, using fully worked-out examples and helpful illustrations. Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter for practice. The treatment of ODEs is developed in conjunction with PDEs and is aimed mainly towards applications. The book covers important applications-oriented topics such as solutions of ODEs in form of power series, special functions, Bessel functions, hypergeometric functions, orthogonal functions and polynomials, Legendre, Chebyshev, Hermite, and Laguerre polynomials, theory of Fourier series. Undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics, physics and engineering will benefit from this book. The book assumes familiarity with calculus.

Inequalities and Applications

World Scientific Series in Applicable Analysis (WSSIAA) reports new developments of a high mathematical standard and of current interest. Each volume in the series is devoted to mathematical analysis that has been applied, or is potentially applicable to the solution of scientific, engineering, and social problems. The third volume of WSSIAA contains 47 research articles on inequalities by leading mathematicians from all over the world and a tribute by R.M. Redheffer to Wolfgang Walter ? to whom this volume is dedicated ? on his 66th birthday.Contributors: A Acker, J D Acz‚l, A Alvino, K A Ames, Y Avishai, C Bandle, B M Brown, R C Brown, D Brydak, P S Bullen, K Deimling, J Diaz, ?
