Applications of Supply Chain Management and E-Commerce Research

In February 2002, the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) De partment at the University of Florida hosted a National Science Founda tion Workshop on Collaboration and Negotiation in Supply Chain Man agement and E Commerce. This workshop focused on characterizing the challenges facing leading edge firms in supply chain management and electronic commerce, and identifying research opportunities for de veloping new technological and decision support capabilities sought by industry. The audience included practitioners in the areas of supply chain management and E Commerce, as well as academic researchers working in these areas. The workshop provided a unique setting that has facilitated ongoing dialog between academic researchers and industry practitioners. This book codifies many of the important themes and issues around which the workshop discussions centered. The editors of this book, all faculty members in the ISE Department at the University of Florida, also served as the workshop's coordinators. In addition to workshop participants, we also invited contributions from leading academics and practitioners who were not able to attend. As a result, the chapters herein represent a collection of research contributions, monographs, and case studies from a variety of disciplines and viewpoints. On the aca demic side alone, chapter authors include faculty members in supply chain and operations management, marketing, industrial engineering, economics, computer science, civil and environmental engineering, and building construction departments.

The International Journal of Therapeutic Jurisprudence

This is the inaugural issue of the International Journal of Therapeutic Jurisprudence, a journal produced by Arizona Summit Law Review. It provides a collection of student, academic, and practitioner articles on the topic of Therapeutic Jurisprudence ("TJ"). Therapeutic Jurisprudence is a way of looking at "law as therapy" or "therapy through law.” It grew out of mental health law and the scholarly writings of Professor David Wexler in the late 1980's. Its applications have expanded into all areas of the law since then. This journal attempts to capture just of few of the many applications of TJ. This Journal is somewhat of a hybrid between a typical law review journal and a journal on social sciences. Its mission is to publish practical material that engages and influences both the legal and scientific communities. Specifically this issue presents fifteen articles ranging from practitioners' use of TJ principles, TJ applications in criminal sentencing and restoration, to mainstream applications of TJ and procedural justice.

La Inteligencia Colectiva En El Desarrollo de Aplicaciones Web 2.0

El interes por las tecnicas CBIR radica en el rapido incremento del tamano de colecciones de imagenes digitales, asi como en la importancia y disponibilidad de las imagenes en diversos campos de aplicacion como la medicina. En consecuencia, existe la necesidad de gestionar datos en imagen digital, dado que la digitalizacion en si no facilita la gestion, aunque posibilita derivar automaticamente informacion. En este proyecto se ofrece una alternativa de solucion a problemas semanticos y de contenido en la realizacion de busquedas, especificamente de mamografias digitalizadas, mediante el uso de Inteligencia Colectiva y la implementacion de un algoritmo CBIR. La integracion permite que sean los usuarios quienes administran y conforman la informacion existente dentro de la aplicacion, obteniendo asi un mayor grado de conocimiento para la comunidad. Los beneficios de esta propuesta dentro del contexto de la medicina (con diagnosticos frecuentemente diferenciales), radica en el uso de la inteligencia colectiva de los especialistas, en donde cada uno realiza busquedas de una forma mas natural y simple de acuerdo al contenido de las imagenes o contribuye con su conocimiento."

Czech Yearbook of International Law - Public Policy and Ordre Public - 2012

We are proud to present to our readers Czech Yearbook of International Law 2012, Volume 3. The overarching topic of this volume, Public Policy and Ordre Public turns its focus to the doctrine which is inherently connected with private international law, which is true only at first glance. The problem of Public Policy and Ordre Public is intertwined more deeply in the national legal orders than virtually any legal branch. However, the platform of private international law through which these doctrines emerge and find its strongest application is in the cross-border traffic of the court and extra-court decisions.
