Tergantung pendekatan kuantitatif atau kualitatif. Tetapi secara substansial kaidah-kaidah utamanya sama. Semua penelitian dapat dipastikan akan selalu melewati ‘jembatan’ prosedur ilmiah dan metode ilmiah. Konflik merupakan suatu kondisi tidak menyenangkan yang terjadi dan sering ditemui dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Entah itu dialami oleh diri sendiri, ataupun orang lain. Konflik bisa saja ditemui tanpa disengaja, baik disadari ataupun tidak. Ia bisa saja tiba-tiba muncul dan hadir di tengah-tengah kesibukan seseorang berumah tangga, bekerja, bermasyarakat, beragama, berbangsa dan bernegara. Dari peristiwa itu kemudian muncul konflik antara dirinya dengan atasan yang pada akhirnya dapat mengganggu komunikasi dan interaksi dalam bekerja.
