Trichome morphology of 15 species of Durio was studied using scanning electron microscopy. Five different trichome types were recognised. The type of trichome, the density of distribution and the place of occurance on the plant can contribute to its usefullness in the identification of the species. [Author's abstract].

It utilizes carbohydrates and peptides as energy and carbon sources. Three hemicellulytic enzymes: [beta]-xylosidase, [alpha]-L-arabinofuranosidase and acetylesterase were investigated.
