A learned person himself, Mu'azzam Husayn claimed to be a descendant of the
Prophet (peace be on him) through Imam Husayn ibn Ali. However, in his Bangla
Sahitye Muslim Kabi-o-Sahityik, Anwarul Karim traced Musharraf's genealogy
back to Syed Sa'dullah: as such his family's claim to have been among the
