In Indo China and Malaysia, the leaves of A. monophylla, A. simplifolia and A. roxburghiana are used to combat diseases of the respiratory tract. The juice of the leaves of A. roxburghiana pounded with Areca catechu and Citrus aurantifolia is used for treatment of stomachache while its fruits are used as oil in the treatment of rheumatism. Coumarins, acridone alkaloids, triterpenes,sesquiterpenes and imonoids have been reported in Atalantia monophylla while Atalantia roxburghiana was shown to possess anti-tumour activity.
