Correlation of cell losses in ATM switches

In view of the geometric approximation of queue length distribution and
geometric form of tail loss period distribution for nonbursty Bernoulli sources, we
are motivated to formulate the simple geometric approximation of the tail
distribution of a loss period for the bursty (M+l) tagged source. This simple
approximation, together with the results presented in this subsection, are
essential for the purposes of possible applications because they significantly
reduce the computation complexity.
