The life and works of Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani

On the life and works of Ibn Ḥajar al-ʻAsqalānī, Aḥmad ibn ʻAlī, 1372-1449, historian from Egypt.

The word Muqaddima with kasra of the letter dal from bab taf'il literally means
one who makes others to be before himself. This meaning d oes not suit t he
preface which itself preceeds others. So, it is assumed that it was originally
mutaqaddima f rom bab tafa'ul w herefrom the letter to has been droped just as it
is the case in muqaddimatal-Jaish (op. cit) 2. al-Muhakama, 8. 3. Ibn Hajar was
