This case study details the methodology of a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design and investigates the effect of using Think-Pair-Share and Co-op Co-op learning strategies on the academic performance of undergraduate students in an educational psychology course that is mandatory for all students in the College of Education. The study was conducted in the College of Education at King Saud University with the participation of 70 students from different specializations and at different study years. I chose a quasi-experimental design to answer the research hypotheses. Challenges and opportunities emerged throughout the research process, including learning strategies to deal with missing data and the opportunity for validation of the instrument used in the research. An implication of this study is the presentation of steps to implement cooperative learning strategies and the potential of these strategies to improve academic performance in higher education programs.

This study showed that successful implementation of cooperative learning in Thai primary mathematics classrooms requires three components: preparation of teachers, preparation of instructional materials and the preparation of pupils. In addition, cooperative learning was found to have a positive effect on pupils' mathematics achievement and their attitude towards mathematics.
